Auto Gendered Words - Creator Tool
AGW allows creators to use gender-variable text like he, she, or they without asking players to manually pre-select every pronoun, relationship term, title, or other gendered word during character creation. --- How's it Work? - Short Version If a player answers the 'What is your gender?' question with male or female or another option, AGW corrects existing plot materials (Story Start, Story Cards, Plot Essentials, Author's Note) to include the correctly gendered version of terms like he/she/they or father/mother/parent. So if a player starts their adventure and answers 'Female' to 'What is your gender?'... - "You are the oldest :son, daughter, child: of the king and next in line to become :king, queen, the ruler:." will become: - "You are the oldest daughter of the king and next in line to become queen." The player does not need to answer separate prompts such as ${pick he/she/they} ---- Setup Instructions: 1) Add to Your Scenario via AID -or- copy/paste library & input from Github 2) Include ${What is your gender?} in somewhere in Story Start, Story Cards, or Plot Essentials/Authors Note* 3) Use :word1,word2,word3: wherever you want the script to place the correct gendered word in the player-facing text. ex. You are the oldest :son, daughter, child: of the king. --- Limitations: 1) If added via AI Dungeon's new Script Interface, AGW will NOT make updates to text appearing in Story Start. 1a) However, when added by directly pasting the code into the scripting tab, AGW will update text in the Story Start 2) AGW cannot use the 'AI Instructions' or 'Story Summary' fields --- Bonus Feature You could play around and use this script to create gender-specific changes to NPCs or plot elements. For example, if I want the player's rival to always be the opposite gender as their character, I could use this script to do so. This works because for a :option1,option2,option3: wordset, the AI will always use option1 for a masculine player-provided gender, option2 for a feminine player-provided gender, and option3 for a neutral or unknown player-provided gender. Example: If I set up a storycard like... - Name - :Lauren,Keith,Sam: - Gender - :Female,Male,Nonbinary: A 'male' player character would change the card to: - Name - Lauren - Gender - Female A 'female' player character would change the card to: - Name - Keith - Gender - Male --- Check out the GitHub @ https://github.com/circadiansummer/AID-AutoGenderedWords/tree/main for a longer breakdown on how this works and specific rules on things like capitalization, supported text characters, a big list of suggestions for possible automatically gendered word options, and more.
