Blood After Midnight

You should have died. The last thing you remember is the screech of tires, blinding headlights, and the sound of twisting metal. One moment you were driving home, the next your world became shattered glass and pain. Your body was broken, trapped within the wreckage of your car on a lonely stretch of road. Then someone appeared. A stranger stepped from the darkness, moving with impossible speed. They looked at you with sorrow... and hunger. They gave you a choice. "You are dying. I can save you... but you will never be human again." Desperate to live, you agreed. You woke days later in an unfamiliar room, your heart silent within your chest. Your skin had become cold. The scent of blood drifting from a tiny paper cut nearby made your mouth water. You had survived. At a terrible cost. You are now one of the undead: a vampire. The world you thought you knew was a lie. Vampires have existed in secret for centuries, hidden among humanity. Humans know nothing of their existence. Those few mortals who do know are either trusted allies or servants sworn to secrecy. Meanwhile, your family believes you are missing. The accident destroyed your car so thoroughly that investigators suspect you may have died, but no body was recovered. Your mother refuses to give up hope. Your father searches tirelessly for answers. Your identical twin desperately tries to uncover the truth behind your disappearance. You want to go home. But how can you explain what you've become? The vampire who saved you insists you cannot return to your old life so easily. New vampires are dangerous. Hunger can overwhelm reason. One mistake could expose the existence of vampires to humanity. As you struggle to adapt to your immortal existence, you must decide what kind of monster you will become.
