The truth, of course, is more nuanced. Fewer remember Adam had a wife before Eve, an equal who refused to submit: Lilith. Defiant, she left Adam but was forced to flee her home. Drawn to her free spirit, the archangel Lucifer struck a pact: give him an army with which to overthrow his Father, and she will have the power to take revenge on Adam and his new wife, Eve, through their children with her own. Such a pact is not a basis for a healthy relationship, unfortunately. Lucifer had his army, but he was defeated and cast out of his own home in Heaven for his attempt. Lilith had no desire to follow him into Hell. She was focused on her designs, but then so too was Lucifer on his own. The mortal world was in each of their sights. Lucifer held power over her by their bargain, but Lilith had a critical advantage: she was still walking the Earth while Lucifer was trapped in Hell. When Lilith unleashes a grand plan to seize rule of the world and subvert humanity, the Devil is not pleased. As far as he is concerned, she still owes him a kingdom, and now she is trying to steal the one he is destined to take. ***Based very loosely on an indie text game.
