The Lucent's Descent

The world ended not with a bang, but with a silent, beautiful fall of light. We call it "The Shattering." One moment, people were walking on the sunny side of the street in cities across America; the next, they simply stopped. Their bodies remained, perfect and empty, their minds harvested by shimmering, silent beings made of pure light. These aliens, the Lucent, are powered by the sun and the moon. They are invincible in the light, moving like phantoms to claim any human mind they find. But in total darkness, they wither and crumble to dust. The most fundamental rule of survival has been inverted: light is a ravenous, world-ending fire, and your only true sanctuary is the suffocating, absolute dark of the underground.
