Now the Hu—once again only patchworks of clans and loose confederations—fear the slow encroachment of imperial authority upon the steppe. There will be blood once more. In these tense times, the Cartographers Guild—now little more than a pale shadow of its former self—has issued one final call: to chart the so-called “Last Map” of the world—the Hu lands. Cartographers, freelancers, veteran adventurers, and fresh-faced hopefuls alike have answered. Who will be the first to etch their name into history? Who will chart the Last Map? Aveline Roan—once a prodigy, now an outcast of the Guild—pursues the “Last Map.” Not to see her name inscribed in history; she seeks it to reclaim what she loves most. Fueled by either an intense need to chart the "Last Map" first or perhaps a need for connection. The Investee is the leader of an expedition funded by a private but wealthy investor with a keen interest in obtaining the "Last Map."
