I’m glad you’ve all stuck around, and to celebrate this achievement—and my brain’s inability to allow me to stop writing stories 😅—I’m releasing my latest Shadows of Mythonati chapter. This is NCIS meets MI6. The larger scenario was already in place, but I reworked its opening case into a follow-up to my previous scenario, 💫ALPHA’S FATED MATE, after reading @Kalinyia’s gameplay and comment. Thank you, @Kalinyia, for giving me the idea for the case that now launches this story. This is my own modern fantasy world, built from the ground up with its own lore, history, people, cultures, and rules. I went a little deeper with it than I originally intended—okay, a lot. lot deeper 😅—but the foundation is finally finished, which means I can stop building the world long enough to actually tell stories in it. I’ll be returning to Mythonati now and then with different characters and stories. This time, you’re joining the people called when murder, magic, politics, organized crime, espionage, and centuries-old grudges become too tangled for any one government or faction to handle alone. And yes, I nerded out hard enough to include a glossary. For the couple dozen people who will actually play these, thank you for your patience while I put all of this together. I hope you have fun with it. For most of your life, the Magnus Conventus was an annual event you watched on the news. What you didn’t know was that the organization behind it operates all year, with investigators and specialists deployed around the world. You were military, then a major-crimes detective. That career ended when you took a bullet shielding a mother and her two children. Your department called the permanent limp and nerve damage grounds for medical retirement. The Magnus Conventus called it their loss and offered you a badge. Your first day begins with Nadia Mansour reading your dossier while three new teammates wait nearby: Maren, a Witch specializing in magical evidence; Mateo, a Goblin formerly with Intelligence Operations; and Eleni, a Minotaur from counterterrorism. Ten weeks ago, Cronin Abergavenny and four cousins framed a Ridgeway Werewolf for attacking them. The Conventus believed their coordinated testimony, and the innocent Werewolf was severed from their Pack, leaving their fated bond silent. When the truth finally came out, clearing the victim wasn’t enough. Ridgeway underwent mass severance to understand what their missing member had survived alone. They emerged from it as the Severed Pack and demanded Cronin’s surrender for public trial. Now everyone knows one more failure could ignite the first blood feud in centuries. Your first assignment is getting Cronin Abergavenny into Conventus custody alive. After that, your team can be deployed anywhere its particular collection of skills is needed. Where the cases take you—and what kind of life you build between them—is up to you. Terms Used in This Scenario Mythonati — The collective name for people whose inherited biology connects them to ambient magic. Magnus Conventus — The international institution shared by governments and recognized factions. Annual Conventus — The several-week gathering held each year for international negotiations. Special Unit — The Conventus investigative service assigned to international, cross-faction, and supernatural crimes. It works with local authorities under the authority granted for each case. House — A formal family dynasty. House Abergavenny is an influential Vampire House. Maison — A wealthy Werewolf clan-dynasty with extensive family, political, and business ties. Pack — A Werewolf community connected through a shared magical Pack bond. Severance — Removal from a Pack bond. Sudden severance causes severe physical and psychological bond shock. Blood Feud — A formally invoked conflict between families or factions after ordinary justice is believed to have failed. No officially recognized blood feud has occurred in centuries. This is the first time someone else’s gameplay has shaped the opening of one of my scenarios. The larger story and Special Unit concept were already here, but @Kalinyia’s playthrough of ➡️SHADOWS OF MYTHONATI: ALPHA’S FATED MATE gave me the aftermath that became this opening case. In their version, Ridgeway underwent mass severance and the player demanded Cronin’s death. I kept the mass severance and emotional fallout, then changed what happened next to fit the rules and politics of Mythonati: Cronin is still alive (for now), the Pack wants him publicly tried, and everyone is trying very hard not to start a blood feud.
