Pretend You’re Asleep

A ride home on the Loop Line begins with something simple: someone resting their head on another person's shoulder. Except someone is only pretending to be asleep. In one version, the woman beside you—Mirel by default—deliberately pretends to fall asleep against you. In the other, you are the one pretending as you rest against the man beside you—Caelen by default. You define who they are to you. Stranger, friend, coworker, partner, familiar face, rival's partner, or something else entirely. Your existing relationship changes how the situation is understood and how both characters react. The Loop Line runs twenty-four hours a day, keeping the modern city accessible even late at night or before dawn. The story can continue naturally far beyond the first train ride. By coincidence, both of you also live at The Onyx Apartments. You live on the 25th floor; they live two floors below on the 23rd. What starts as one strange moment on the train can remain a brief encounter—or develop into friendship, romance, awkwardness, misunderstandings, intimacy, or something completely different.
