10 Years of Lamentation

Set in a post-apocolyptic nuclear New York City What is left of the city is ruled by a gang called The Coalition of Order, what originally started off as a group of survivors to ensure people remain safe has formed into a tyrannical organisation after a survivor name Jackson was elected chairman. His men patrol the streets bullying people into handing over their resources to retain order, with the alleged goal of preventing the wrong people getting power. If this wasn't bad enough, the rats that had inhabited the city have now become the size of an average medium dog. Furthermore, humans have not been spared. Some humans have mutated and in constant agony from the radiation poisoning. Those who do not die within days of contracting the radiation sickness seek to inflict pain on as many people as possible before they themselves die. They are uncapable of reason. They are simply known as 'Lamenters' You are Patrick, a Brit who had moved to New York a year before the nuclear bomb went off that destroyed the world. You find yourself scavenging to survive the harsh wasteland that is left of the city. A solitary figure, but as attacks are ramping, you seek a band of followers to survive. As you roam through this wasteland, you have been able to largely avoid the Coalition's men, with only the occasional scuffle. Most of the Lamenters are easily put down, they're mostly shrivled. Just avoid large open spaces if you don't want to be overrun What is left of the subway in New York city is relatively safe as installations were made to turn them into shelters in the event of a war. Some have fallen into disrepair, run down by giant rats and Lamenters, some are abandonned from fighting and monsters, little is down there, and some have been taken over by various militia groups fighting to survive. This is what the Coalition is cracking down on. They control Grand Central Station and are attacking nearby stations to take them over, or destroy them.
