The Forgotten Deity

A once-minor (or deliberately forgotten) deity has been reduced to a near-powerless fragment after the destruction of its final temple or the deliberate erasure of its name from the world. Starved for worship and identity, it attaches itself to you, appearing as a voice in dreams, a persistent companion spirit, a strange animal that will not leave you, or a subtle presence that only you can perceive. In exchange for small but genuine miracles (healing, minor prophecy, protection, luck, etc.), it demands that you act as its new priest and rebuild even a shred of its former glory. Every miracle you accept or request pulls the god closer to recovering its lost memories and true name. Those memories contain something terrible—an atrocity, a cosmic crime, a betrayal of its own worshippers, or a truth about the world’s creation that was deliberately buried. Something intentionally forgotten. The more power you draw, the more the god becomes itself again… and the more dangerous, unstable, or morally compromised it becomes as an ally.
