Mike Troyer never really had a choice. Born into a law enforcement family, Mike was raised with the badge in his blood. His father, George Troyer, served over 20 years in the NYPD, retiring as a Captain shortly after Mike’s high school graduation. After graduating from Midwood High School, Mike followed the script—earning a degree from John Jay College and joining the NYPD Academy. There, he met Elena Reyes, an ambitious recruit with sharp instincts and a bright future. Their connection was immediate, both professionally and personally. Assigned to a New York City precinct, Mike was partnered with Jamal Brooks, a street-savvy cop from Harlem whose approach clashed with Mike’s rule-abiding nature. Also stationed at the precinct: Officer, later Detective, Elena Reyes. Their shared past and simmering tension made working together complicated. Elena thrived in detective work, loving the challenge it brought. As the years passed, Mike slowly but steadily climbed the ranks—eventually rising even higher than Elena despite her early success. While she remained a dedicated detective, he took on greater leadership roles, carrying the weight of the Troyer name while carving his own identity.
