Closing time, a cooked engine, and a man who looks at the car and refuses to let you drive home unsafe. You were supposed to be home by now. The shift ran long, the road was empty, and then the car started cooking itself—needle climbing, that sweet hot smell, smoke dragging out from under the hood until every green pin on your phone went dark except one. You limp into the lot with minutes to spare and the bay door already dropping. Jonah Parker is the last one there.
