This is the first book in the series, One Dead Spy, with Nathan Hale's life story and how he ended up at the gallows (where he gets hung). But instead, he gets eaten by a giant book of American history, learning everything about American History. Instead of being executed, he tells the provost and the hangman, the two British there to execute him, some tales about history. They see history from the gallows. With no crowd and time to waste, tales are told, beginning with this one. This scenario is mainly about the American Revolution and Nathan Hale, with the British battling it out against the rebellious Americans, who declared independence on July 4th, 1776.
