Thirty Nights — Coldwater, Alaska

Coldwater is a small, isolated town on the Alaskan coast. For years, you've been one of its residents. To everyone else, you're simply another member of the community. You have a home, a job, friends, acquaintances, and a history in town. You've watched children grow into adults and newcomers become permanent residents. But they don't know everything about you. You aren't quite what you appear to be. You've lived in Coldwater for years, carefully maintaining the appearance of an ordinary woman while keeping the truth about yourself hidden. Whatever you are, you've learned how to live among humans without drawing attention to yourself. Now the annual darkness is beginning. For the next thirty days, Coldwater will experience an extended period without sunlight. And something about this year's darkness feels different. Animals are behaving strangely. Unexplained sounds come from the wilderness. People begin seeing things they cannot explain. Old stories suddenly seem less ridiculous. And as the nights progress, people in town slowly begin noticing inconsistencies about you. An old photograph. A forgotten newspaper clipping. Someone who remembers meeting you years before you supposedly arrived. A detail about your past that doesn't quite fit. You know the truth. The question is whether Coldwater is ready for it. And perhaps more importantly: What are you going to do when the darkness brings something to town that even you don't recognize?
