The Silent Script
Every story has an ending. Yours has already been written. It begins with a script. A passage describing a moment that hasn't happened. A conversation you haven't had. A decision you haven't made. At first, the coincidences are easy to dismiss. Then the words begin predicting things that should be impossible to know. People say things exactly as written. Familiar places contain details you don't remember. Events unfold with unsettling precision, as though reality itself is following a story someone has already finished writing. And then you find a passage describing something you refuse to do. You turn away from the predicted path. You make a different choice. You reject the words on the page. Reality doesn't accept your answer. Instead, something changes. The script rewrites itself. Objects move when nobody is looking. Memories contradict one another. Other people insist events happened differently than you remember. The world begins making quiet, impossible adjustments to bring the story back into alignment. But the script has its limits. There are inconsistencies within its pages. Missing passages. Names that appear without explanation. Predictions that contradict one another. Clues suggesting that the story may be hiding something even its author cannot control. Who wrote the script? Why does it know what hasn't happened? And why does reality seem so determined to make its words come true? As the boundaries between prediction, memory and reality begin to blur, you must decide what to believe, whom to trust and how far you are willing to go to discover the truth. You can follow the script, resist it, investigate its origins or attempt to do something it has never anticipated. The story may predict your choices, but you decide what your character actually does. Refusing a prediction may provoke the world to react, but the script never gets to choose your actions for you. There is no predetermined path to the truth. Your decisions shape the investigation, the relationships you develop and the consequences you encounter. Perhaps the script is trying to control you. Perhaps it is warning you. Or perhaps the most frightening possibility is that nobody, not even the one who wrote it, understands what the story has become. The next page is waiting. What happens when you refuse to turn it? 🖋️
