The Pandoravirus

In 2027, an unknown virus nicknamed Pandoravirus silently spreads across the world. Unlike previous pandemics, it causes neither serious illness nor death. It targets only a very specific segment of the population: biological women from puberty onward. And its effects are... extraordinary. With each infection, the virus unlocks a unique, completely random superpower in the host. These powers vary considerably: teleportation, gravity control, mind reading, small-scale time manipulation, body transformation, invisibility, and more. No two cases are exactly the same. The effect is permanent and irreversible. Men, children, and postmenopausal women remain immune. Science is unable to explain the exact workings of the virus, nor why it seems to choose its hosts and powers according to unknown criteria. Women who have developed powers (nicknamed Pandoras) become central figures in society: protected, monitored, or exploited depending on the country.
