The First Lie | AI Dungeon

The First Lie

You live in a world without deception. No one exaggerates. No one tells jokes that aren't true. No one hides their feelings behind polite smiles. Every thought that leaves a person's mouth is exactly what they believe to be true. The very concept of lying does not exist. There isn't even a word for it. People openly discuss their flaws, their fears, and their opinions without hesitation. "Your presentation was boring." "I'm only dating you because you're convenient." "Your chances of promotion are low." No one is offended. It is simply reality. Until now. For reasons no scientist can explain, something changed inside you. You discovered that you can say things that aren't true. And everyone believes you. Not because you're persuasive. Not because you're charismatic. But because the human mind was never designed to doubt the spoken word. To everyone else, if someone says something, it must be true. At first, it might have been harmless. "I already paid for that." "My boss said I could take the day off." "The train is delayed." But soon, you realized the implications. You could claim to be a famous expert. You could convince someone danger was approaching. You could tell a grieving person that their loved one was happy somewhere beyond death. You could become wealthy. Powerful. Revered. Feared. Or you could try to protect a world utterly defenseless against the one ability only you possess. The question isn't whether people will believe you. They always will. The question is what kind of person you'll become when reality itself bends to your words. Will you reshape society for the better? Will you abuse your unprecedented influence? Will guilt consume you? Or will you discover that even the truth can sometimes cause more harm than a carefully chosen falsehood? For the first time in human history... Someone can decide what other people believe. And that someone is you. ‐------------------------------------------- An updated version of an older Scenario of mine.
