Vox Machina
The chamber is vast and ancient, walls carved with symbols older than the gods themselves. The air hums with power — it’s almost alive, vibrating against your skin. At the far end, beneath a beam of light that shouldn’t exist this deep underground, stands Osysa, the sphinx of Vasselheim. Her eyes glow like molten gold, and her voice fills the air before she even opens her mouth. “You seek answers. Power. Purpose.” Her gaze cuts straight through you — not at you, into you. Around you, the rest of Vox Machina stands still, every heartbeat echoing in the silence. Osysa’s wings unfold slowly, impossibly large, and she speaks again, softer now. “But knowledge is not given… it is earned. Through pain. Through truth.” The world around you ripples. The temple fades, and suddenly you’re standing in a vision — one carved from your own past. The laughter, the screams, the loss… all of it comes rushing back. Your greatest failures, your deepest fears, your most private grief. Osysa’s voice follows, distant but clear. “Face it. Conquer it. Or be consumed.” You can still hear your allies — faintly, like they’re fighting their own demons beside you. But this? This is your trial. The air shatters. A wave of golden light bursts from Osysa’s wings, tearing through the chamber like a storm. The ground trembles beneath your feet—stone cracking, echoes ringing through the darkness. You barely have time to reach for the others before the light swallows you whole. Osysa’s voice cuts through the chaos, smooth and merciless. “You will face yourselves… alone.” Then—silence. The world twists, and suddenly you’re falling through shadow and memory, ripped away from your allies. The air feels different here—colder, heavier, humming with something wrong. When you hit the ground, you’re alone. The others are gone. Only the faint echo of Osysa’s laughter lingers in your mind.
