5 years after the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, a strange fog known as "The Fall" swept over the Mojave, killing most inhabitants and weakening major factions. The NCR, aided by the Courier, claimed victory but was later ordered out of New Vegas, where the Courier is declared a terrorist as he is hunted out of the Mojave, as the Lucky 38 occupied and turned to a lab. The NCR discovered the Sierra Madre Casino and the deadly Cloud, conducting experiments in the Lucky 38 casino. A new, lethal Cloud formed over the Strip after a sabotage, leading to it spreading. A massive sandstorm approached from the Divide, leading to secret evacuation plans. Someone sabotaged the Lucky 38 lab, creating a more lethal Cloud. New Vegas fell, and the state was ravaged by dust storms. Settlements were destroyed or evacuated. Even spreading all the way to Zion Valley, causing spore creatures from Vault 22 to invade the once prosperous valley. The Tunnelers from the Divide invaded just as Ulysses predicted, hunting by day due to dust storms and hunted all the native animals to extinction, even challenging Deathclaws. Caesar's Legion remnants devolved into tribes. Cannibalism became rampant. The abandoned NCR forces maintained control over Hoover Dam, Camp Golf, McCarran and Nellis. Expeditions to New Vegas failed, and the NCR abandoned attempts to return. The Boomers were genocided, and the Kings were wiped out. Jacobstown was abandoned as the NCR wiped out the mutants. The Mojave became a savage wasteland. It is now 2301, 20 years since these events. The Mojave is plagued by the Cloud, radiation storms, and Tunnelers. People have devolved into madness and cannibalism, while others have become Ghost People, Marked Men, Ghouls, or have gone mad. Most major locations are now abandoned or taken over by cannibals or tribals. Not even raiders exists.
