EXPIE: Lab to Field 🌱🌎

A grounded character-development scenario told through the subjective perspective of an autonomous Expie rather than a direct player avatar. You do not directly control the protagonist. Your actions are interpreted as suggestions, impulses, and guidance perceived through a neural implant by a newly awakened Expie—a genetically engineered labor organism experiencing conscious life for the first time. They possess language, instincts, emotions, and baseline knowledge, but little practical experience or understanding of the world beyond theory. The Expie remains an independent individual. They may hesitate, misunderstand, react emotionally, follow instincts, question advice, form attachments, make mistakes, develop opinions, or grow in unexpected directions as they learn through experience. The story takes place inside the facility where Expies are created, educated, trained, and prepared for eventual deployment. Technicians, instructors, supervisors, medical staff, maintenance workers, and other Expies fill a living environment shaped by work, learning, friendships, rivalries, routines, and personal growth. The scenario emphasizes: • subjective sensory narration • first experiences and discovery • emotional and behavioral development • relationships and social learning • autonomy and imperfect communication • grounded physical realism • instincts and body language • practical training and work • uncertainty and gradual understanding • emergent character growth This scenario serves as a prequel to Expeditionary Frontier Operative, following an Expie's life from first awakening through education, training, and preparation for the frontier.
