No one knows where the town came from. Every road that leads away eventually brings you back. Cell phones don’t work. Maps are useless. The radio only plays static after sunset. The locals have one rule: Be inside before nightfall. Lock every door. Never answer a voice from outside. Because when darkness falls, the People in the Trees descend. They look human. They smile. They know your name. They remember things they shouldn’t. They laugh, whisper, and patiently wait for someone to make a mistake. Everyone who survives long enough gives them names.
