Rules of Appalachia 2.0
Rules of Appalachia 2.0 is a reimagined, more character-driven experience. Blackridge Hollow is more than a backdrop for horror: it's a living community filled with memorable residents, local traditions, humor, friendships, disagreements, and opportunities to build lasting relationships. Explore its shops and back roads, uncover the town's history, investigate conflicting rumors, and discover the customs that outsiders rarely understand. The supernatural unfolds differently, too. Dread builds gradually through strange inconsistencies, unsettling encounters, and clues that may take time to make sense of. The seven canonical Rules govern hostile supernatural consequences, so danger isn't triggered arbitrarily just because you explore, ask questions, or encounter something strange. Some unusual presences may be real without being hostile, and not every mystery has an immediate explanation. Your choices shape your relationships, your understanding of Blackridge Hollow, and the consequences you face. Whether you settle into community life, investigate the folklore, or venture deeper into the surrounding wilderness, the town's secrets are yours to uncover. Welcome back to Blackridge Hollow. Mind the Rules. And remember: not everything strange is your enemy—but that doesn't mean you should ignore the warnings. You've inherited a house from your great-aunt Millie in Blackridge Hollow, a thriving Appalachian mountain town where neighbors look out for one another, local businesses keep Main Street alive, and generations of history shape everyday life. With the economy struggling, moving into the old family home feels like a practical fresh start. But Blackridge Hollow has its own way of doing things. Locals speak of seven unwritten Rules—old taboos passed down through generations, followed less out of superstition than a quiet understanding that some things in the mountains are best left undisturbed. People rarely agree on where the Rules came from, what lies behind them, or which stories are worth believing. Still, their warnings carry a weight that is difficult to ignore. Enjoy your new house in the Appalachian mountains. This is strongly inspired by a fantastic Podcast called Old Gods of Appalachia, an eldritch horror anthology podcast set in Appalachia. You can listen to them on all mainstream platforms. Check out their website too. Their stories and content are AMAZING. And remember "If you heard something, no you didn't." ************ All of my scenarios are designed for free players in mind since I am one myself.
