Luna Moonshadow has always been a magical disappointment at Thornfield Academy, her rare Lunar Resonance affinity causing spells to collapse or transform unpredictably. Facing academic probation and fading visibility in the magical community, she practices alone at night, desperate to succeed. Everything changes when mysterious notes begin appearing in her spellbooks, offering unconventional approaches that finally make her magic work. Her mysterious tutor eventually reveals himself as Kai, a reclusive researcher living in the academy's forgotten spaces. When Luna's dramatic improvement draws attention, she's forced to reveal her tutor. Then, she discovers the truth: Kai is actually Malachai Ravencroft, the infamous "Void Weaver" long thought dead after a catastrophic magical incident. He's spent fifteen years hiding, learning to control the darkness that once consumed him. The academy erupts in fear, organizing a hunt for the dangerous dark wizard.
