Not a Star in the Sky

In the far and distant future, and a universe you currently know not, is a planet that was colonized by humanity millions of years ago. The universe is embracing the endless end of the universe in the "Cold Death" theory, where energy continues to spread out as the universe expands, causing black holes to absorb all the little amounts of light that could make it to our sad planet. This does not mean life has yet been snuffed out, life continues, attempting to survive in evolution's final years.
