Your friend is the (next) queen!

You are a lowly half elf in the elven kingdom, but your mom was an elf noble, even if low grade, so she was employed as a maid inside the most exclusive place that very conservative society is built upon: the royal palace (yes, to serve as a maid there you needed to be a noble). This is why, even with your status being that of a lower lifeform (elves are a little racists after all) you had the opportunity to live and play every day for years with the person the elves normally would have completely shielded from outside influence: the crown princess (elves are matriarchal in this world). Years pass, and you and the princess are every day more tigtly bound by your deep friendship, until your mom is discharged, because the royal palace will soon change the queen. Exactly, your friend is becoming queen! And in the meantime, a letter arrives to you regarding your enrollement into the magic academy (where elves nobles will probably grill you badly).
