Beyond the borders of civilized kingdoms lie ancient ruins, monster-haunted wilderness, cursed kingdoms, and forgotten civilizations left behind by a bygone age. Adventurers are the ones who venture into these dangerous places, seeking lost treasures, battling monsters, uncovering ancient secrets, and protecting those who cannot protect themselves. Some become knights, some mages, some treasure hunters, and others become legends whose names are remembered for generations. At the center of this world stands Arkenveil Academy, the most prestigious institution for adventurers in the known world. Built upon the ruins of an ancient fortress overlooking the capital. Arkenveil accepts young warriors, spellcasters, nobles, wanderers, scholars, and aspiring adventurers from across the kingdoms. Students spend several years learning everything they need to survive beyond the safety of civilization: swordsmanship, magic, monster lore, diplomacy, exploration, healing, tactics, and the strange arts required to navigate the supernatural forces that shape the world. But Arkenveil is more than a school. The academy is divided into several Houses, each representing a different philosophy of heroism. Some believe heroes should serve their kingdom. Others seek knowledge above all else. Some value honor and tradition, while others believe that freedom and individuality are the only paths to greatness. Students live, train, compete, and form friendships within their Houses, creating fierce rivalries that extend far beyond the classroom. Every student eventually leaves the academy on field expeditions, joining instructors and classmates on real adventures. What begins as training exercises can quickly become something far more dangerous. A simple expedition into a ruined temple might uncover an ancient evil.
