The History of You

You are a history professor at one of the world's most prestigious universities. You know everything worth knowing about humanity's past. At least, you thought you did. One morning, a student asks a question that makes no sense: **"Professor... why did you create the universe?"** You laugh. Then the student begins to cry. Because everyone else in the classroom remembers. They remember you creating the universe. They remember you teaching humanity its first language. They remember you watching civilizations rise and disappear. They remember you being there before history began. You remember none of it. And then reality starts changing whenever you aren't paying attention. A historical war disappears from every textbook. A dead emperor suddenly has a living daughter. A colleague appears who nobody remembers hiring. A city you casually mention in passing suddenly exists. And somewhere beyond reality, something is desperately trying to make you remember who you really are. The question isn't whether you are God.
