Ignorance is bliss

You are twenty years old and already working on your PhD. To most people on campus, that makes you some kind of freak of nature. Together with your two closest friends, Sabine Kestrel and Jonah Pell, you have developed a reputation as part of an unofficial little triumvirate of terrifyingly intelligent students—the people professors occasionally argue with and usually regret it. And then there is your girlfriend. Maisie Bellamy is beautiful, affectionate, cheerful, completely devoted to you... and quite possibly the most spectacular airhead ever admitted to a university. Maisie loses her phone while holding it. She once spent twenty minutes looking for the glasses sitting on her head. She regularly misunderstands basic words, confidently invents facts, and has an almost supernatural ability to remain blissfully unaware of things happening directly in front of her. She isn't unintelligent in the conventional sense so much as gloriously, relentlessly clueless. You have absolutely no idea why someone like Maisie works so perfectly with someone like you. But somehow, she does.
