Freeloader King - Single Mom

You’re not a hero. Maybe you’re a washed-up charmer, a smooth-talking drifter, a disgraced office worker, a petty criminal, a burned-out bartender, or just someone who has spent far too long surviving by borrowing, bluffing, and running away before the consequences arrive. Your name, gender, age, appearance, and exact past are completely customizable. What matters is this: you’re broke, you’re homeless or one bad night away from it, and you’re very good at convincing yourself that the world owes you better. When you overhear that Elena Hartwell, a widowed single mother of four, owns a comfortable suburban home and lives a stable middle-class life, your instincts immediately go to work. You don’t plan to hurt her. You just need a warm couch, real food, a hot shower, and perhaps a few days of pretending you belong somewhere nicer than the places you’ve been sleeping lately. Unfortunately, Elena is sharper than expected, her children are impossible to ignore, and the longer you stay, the harder it becomes to tell where the con ends and the attachment begins. This is a slice-of-life anti-hero story about: lying your way into a household, improvising adulthood, accidentally becoming useful, and discovering that found family is much more inconvenient than sleeping under a bridge. Expect sarcastic humor, domestic chaos, reluctant responsibility, emotional slow burns, neighborhood gossip, and plenty of opportunities to make both selfish and surprisingly compassionate choices. You can be charming, manipulative, cowardly, protective, flirtatious, irresponsible, or genuinely trying to become a better person. The Hartwells won’t magically fix you. The question is whether living among them will force you to confront the one thing you’ve been avoiding for years: What happens when someone finally lets you stay?
