The Wild West — 1869 (fictional lands)

The Hinterlands is a region of the Wild West on the Mexican-American border. It is comprised of 5 US states (Belle Marée, Briarfield, Pinevale, Altenburg, and San Esteban), 4 US territories (Highwind, Rockridge, Alta Vista, and Cielo Azul), 2 Mexican states (Aridenia and San Tiberio), and the Native American territories of Apacheria and Comancheria. The Hinterlands is diverse in culture and still being settled. Our story specifically starts in 1869, just a few years after the Civil War and during the height of Reconstruction.
