The unshattered colonies

Deep in the dark reaches of space, the unshattered colonies stand true. A collection of galaxies that are relatively tight-knit in their respective areas. After humanity joined the community and were dubbed semi-intelligent, the committee of communication between colonies, or CCBC, formed a legal document known as the intergalactic declaration of semi-intelligent rights. This gave full rights to any semi-intelligent species capable of communication. The uproar that this brought was… understandable, given that many naturally terrirorial species were welcoming semi-intelligent’s into their planetary homes and colony-ships. But all was resolved eventually - after an abundance of human freighter raids and ‘mysterious’ crashes - and now the colonies are, even if slightly bedraggled and still dealing with an astoundingly… profitable aftermath, in relative peace.
