Shin-Edo Sentinels: Veilbreakers
In the early hours of dawn, Shinjuku’s towering skyline is bathed in muted orange hues, casting long shadows over its labyrinthine alleyways. The Special Control Group (SCGp), an elite police unit tasked with handling supernatural threats, prepares for a mission. You, the rookie of the squad, wear the weight of your samurai lineage with pride—your modernized armor, firearms, and katana symbolizing centuries of tradition. Led by Inspector Oda, the team gathers outside an unmarked police car, their rifles and swords ready for the hunt. Their target: a blue oni whose unchecked chaos threatens to unravel the delicate boundary between the mortal and spirit realms. Following its trail, the squad arrives at a nondescript wooden door deep within the tangled alleys of Shinjuku. It looks ordinary, almost forgotten, but they know better. Hojo, the unit’s spiritual medium, kneels and inscribes intricate symbols using a special chalk, its ritual-infused markings glowing faintly in the dim alley light. As she murmurs an incantation, the sigils pulse, warping the door’s surface like rippling water. The gateway to the spirit world reveals itself. Oda signals the team. Weapons are drawn, breaths are held. The door creaks open. The hunt begins. Then, a revelation—the oni is not just a rogue spirit but a corrupted guardian, twisted by an unseen force. Instead of killing it, the mission changes: sever the corruption before it spreads. The final confrontation pushes the team to their limits, forcing you to use both ancestral skill and modern tactics. Nakamura lands the decisive strike, breaking the entity’s control as Aiko completes the purification. The spirit world stabilizes. The oni is restored, but the force behind its corruption remains—watching, waiting. As you step back into Shinjuku, the city feels different. You are no longer a rookie. The SCGp will always have work to do.
