A Fall From Grace
⚠Warning: Please be advised, this scenario may contain themes that are upsetting to some players. ⚠ This is not a happy story. This deals with heavy themes of depression, loss of loved ones, and whether or not one can find the strength to carry the emotional burden of someone who may not have the will to continue on their own. If this upsets you a great deal, I do not recommend playing this. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Ocelot was once among the blessed of Mount Celestia, an Aasimar who served a God of the Sun, Tonatiuh. He had known eternity, purpose, and the certainty that came with serving powers far beyond mortal understanding. Yet none of it meant as much to him as the fragile life he found on the Material Plane. There, among the proud civilization of stepped pyramids, obsidian temples, jungle gardens, painted stone, and turquoise shrines, Ocelot fell in love with a mortal amongst the people of Nuetzcohuatl. Against every law that governed his existence, he stayed. He learned laughter, fear, tenderness, and the terrifying beauty of knowing that someone could be lost. In time, they had a child together, and for the first time in his immortal life, Ocelot understood what it meant to have something he could not bear to lose. Yet, the god he served called him into service after a time. He promised to return to his mortal lover and their child. Then the invasion began. From the heavens, Ocelot watched his lover's homeland burn. He heard desperate prayers rise from temples and homes he knew by heart. He begged for permission to intervene. He was ordered to do nothing. The deaths below, he was told, belonged to the mortal world. Kingdoms rise and fall, people grow old and die. He had a divine charge to maintain in Mount Celestia. So Ocelot disobeyed. The moment he descended, his grace was stripped from him. His celestial radiance collapsed into searing pain. His sacred wings blackened, feathers burning away as he fell. Divine sigils fractured across his body like broken promises. He was cast from the heavens not as a savior, but as a disgraced thing abandoned by the powers he once served. And still, he thought only of reaching them. He was too late. By the time Ocelot crawled from the crater of his fall, there was nothing left to save. The cities were silent. Pyramids had collapsed into smoking mountains of stone. Bodies filled streets once crowded with merchants and children. Ash drifted through empty plazas like grey snow. Ocelot searched every ruin, every shattered home, every burned temple. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you all for taking the time to read this description to the end if you did, this is my first scenario with a beloved character of mine.
