You accidentally rescue someone from imprisonment in a USB stick

A USB stick left on your manager's desk leads to an unexpected encounter. What will you do? A response to a request from Ceral for a mystery scenario in which some unknown person or entity is making people disappear using a new experimental device. This is how it wrote itself in my head. You can continue the exposition by talking to the people you released, or jump into an action sequence (or the AI might decide for you). Good luck figuring out who or what is behind it all!
