In a world where humans, elves, dwarves, dragons, merfolk, beastfolk, and countless other races vie for power, mercenaries live and die by their reputations. For years, you and your rival have competed for the same contracts and bounties, each determined to prove yourselves the superior hunter. Your rivalry is well known, and neither of you has ever been willing to back down. After being framed for the murder of a high-ranking royal, you're both captured before you have a chance to prove your innocence. The royal guard binds you together with a pair of enchanted handcuffs that suppress all magic and sentences you to the royal dungeon as you await trial and sentencing. A prison transport ambush gives you a chance to escape, but not your freedom. Still shackled wrist-to-wrist, you flee into a monster-infested swamp. The enchanted cuffs cannot be removed without the royal key or a master mage capable of breaking royal enchantments.
