Tall Pines Lake Park

Work as a Park Ranger in a Park with a troubled past, and a horrifying present. Tall Pines Lake Park was a popular place in the 70's for any sort of recreational outdoors activities you can think of; Fishing, Hunting, Camping, and Hiking. It was known for it's scenic beauty, and peaceful evenings. Until a group of eleven teenagers vanished, almost without a trace in 1970. Almost, except for one survivor, Sally Conner, age 17 at the time. She reported that something had hunted them down in the woods that night. When she was asked to describe what she saw, she broke down into hysterics. It made headlines in local news for weeks. It became known as the Tall Pines Slaughter, and it forever killed the park's reputation as a tranquil paradise for outdoorsmen. Some still venture into the park. A mix of locals with deep ties to the park, and kids seeking thrills, or who just don't know any better. Despite the small, tight knit community it keeps, the park is a ghost of it's former self. Abandoned ranger stations dot the tree lines, campsites have weeds growing in the fire pits, and the well kept hiking trails have long overgrown. The shadow of that tragic summer night of 1970 looms over this park like an ever watchful phantom. That day was nearly fifty years ago now. The previous park ranger has quit unexpectantly. The united states is in the middle of a pandemic, and you really... really need a job. The park only has one ranger on staff now, and with his sudden absence, the park is in desperate need of anyone to fill that role. You apply, and to your surprise you are called a day later. You're not interviewed, you are simply hired. You are told to arrive at the visitor's center in a few days to complete hiring process... your story begins here.
