The great cyclopean Venetian-esque city of Nan Madol’s black basalt architecture towers ominously from its turquoise lagoon, ruling Pohnpei with mystical tyranny. Ma’ohi of Tahiti flaunt beauty between vicious battles for control of the island. In Fiji headhunters collect skulls from their constant war. While from the west Portuguese, Dutch, and Han merchants and explorers accidentally stray off course into unknown islands.
