Diesel Vs. Steam

The world began to advance in the Victorian era with massive advancements in the power of steam technology, giving rise to the Steampunk era. Centuries later during the 1890s the emergence of the diesel engine gave rise to a new era, the Diesel Punk era. Where the great machines of the Steampunk era used many gears and the power of steam, the Diesel Punk on the other hand used a combustion engine and many pistons and of course ran off of diesel and other fossil fuels. Those from the Steampunk era looked down on those of the Diesel Punk era for their use of "uncivilized" and the pollution they caused with their diesel engines. Those of the Diesel Punk era looked down on those from the Steampunk era for their "weaker steam engines" and lack of a sense of adventure. These differences are not so easily settled, eventually leading to a great war between the powers and machines of Steampunk and the powers and machines of Diesel Punk.
