Word of the Street: Blood on the Asphalt ’88

Kazan, USSR. Autumn 1988. Perestroika, empty shops, cassette tapes of “Laskovyi Mai” blasting from every window. The streets are ruled by teenage gangs: “Hadi Taktash”, “Chayka”, “Universam”, “Tyama”… Here a word is stronger than law, and betrayal is paid with blood.
