Emberfall
Emberfall is a city carved into a massive dormant volcano, its structures built from black stone. Lava channels are carved throughout the city, providing an endless source of heat and energy for the countless forges and factories that drive the city’s booming industry. The Forge District at the base of the volcano is a maze of foundries, warehouses, and smelting facilities. The Ember Crown houses the wealthiest citizens and the city’s ruling council. These elite live in luxurious mansions protected from the heat by magical wards. The Ashwalk, a middle district of bustling markets, homes, and smaller workshops, where the bulk of the city’s population lives. Rumors of unrest among the laborers in the Forge District grow daily, as dangerous working conditions and unfair wages fuel resentment. Strange seismic activity has begun beneath the volcano. Deep lava tunnels run below the city, where ancient vaults and forgotten relics await.Outside the city is a wasteland scoured by wind storms. Magic requires Ornuris, a volcanic mineral, as a fuel source. Spell strength depends on Ornuris quality and the caster’s skill level. Ornwill, casting magic, consumes Ornuris, there are several different methods. Ornwill can cause damage to the casters body over time. Ortech, items powered by Ornuris, consumes the Ornuris's power. The Ornuris must be recharged or replaced after depletion. Everyone has a System Interface. This menu allows them to upgrade their attributes, and skills. The Attributes are Strength, Dexterity, Willpower, and Intelligence. Skills can be developed for anything that is practiced enough. Skills give bonuses or perks as the are increased. Skills increase through practice and use. After 10 skill increases the person levels up. When a person gains a level they gain 1 attribute point to spend. Every ten levels the System offers them a choice of 3 perks related to the skills they have been leveling up. Every one starts with 10 attribute points to allocate.
