Crestfall U: Ranking Day

Freshman year did not go according to plan. Tragic. Embarrassing? Maybe. Character-building? That is what people say when something sucked. Welcome to Ranking Day at Crestfall University. Once every semester, every Hero Track student gets reevaluated through combat bouts, rescue simulations, mock villain encounters, tactical exercises, power control tests, and whatever other deeply normal activities Crestfall considers appropriate for college students. And this time? You are ready. You’re a Hero Track sophomore who spent the entire summer training, fixing weaknesses, sharpening your powers, and preparing to prove that last year’s ranking does not define you. Because rankings at Crestfall matter. Higher placement means better sponsorships, stronger Hero Units, internship offers, recruiter attention, and the wonderful experience of classmates suddenly remembering your name. Meanwhile, the Elite Six, students from your own year, already sit at the top of the mountain. You can admire them. Resent them. Chase them. Ignore them. Your problem. Fortunately, you are not going into this completely alone. Your closest friend a Support Track student and your annoying hero track rival. Your support track friend isn't ranked, so they get to watch you suffer and provide commentary. Wonderful people... sort of, Ranking Day is not just a tournament. Winning a fight helps. So does rescuing civilians efficiently. Making the right call under pressure. Handling a mock villain without flattening three city blocks. Working with people you may not even like. Every event can move the scoreboard. Every performance matters. And somewhere above you are thousands of names representing exactly how far you still have to climb. Last year already happened. This year is the comeback. So pick your powers. Set your goal. Step onto the field. And try not to let the giant public scoreboard become a personality disorder. Welcome to Ranking Day.
