Siegel's Parley

The single worst cruelty ever known by humans is not war, greed, or even hatred. The cruelty worse than any other is the fact that one life can be measured against another and found lesser. Once that cruelty has been realized every single monstrosity becomes excusable. A martyr does not wish to be a martyr, they only became one because death was required. Society calls these acts courageous but we all know it has nothing to do with courage, it is merely the narcisism of the powerful. When thousands of men and women die in the chaos of war, we do not congratulate those who sacrificed themselves for peace, we congratulate the rich and powerful who did nothing but sign their name, forgetting the names that truly hold history and greatness on their backs.
