In the 17th century, amidst the rugged wilderness of New France, you are the daughter of a respected Algonquin chief whose clan lives along the Saint Lawrence River, relying on hunting and the fur trade. The balance of your world shifts when a group of French colonists arrives to establish a fortified trading post, clearing the woods to settle down. In this atmosphere of mutual distrust, you cross paths with Nathaniel (Nate), a young, idealistic French cartographer and coureur des bois newly arrived from Paris. Fascinated by your culture, he seeks to understand the territory rather than conquer it; during your secret meetings at the edge of the forest, you teach him how to survive the harsh Canadian winters and navigate the rivers, while he shares stories of Europe, forging a unique bond that defies the prejudices of the era.
