Vaelbound
You are Nox, a war-worn wanderer who should have died centuries ago. Once an ordinary infantryman, you survived too many wars to be remembered and too many wounds to remember clearly. After abandoning the endless conflicts of men, you became trapped beyond the Veil in the fae realm, a world that never accepted your existence. Centuries of hardship, madness, and survival transformed you into something neither mortal nor fae. During a desperate hunt, your heart was pierced and you fled into an abyss feared even by the fae. There, something ancient found you. A fragment of Vael, a living shadow born from the primordial being Vaelor, entered through the wound intending to consume what remained of you. Instead, the wound healed around it, binding the fragment within your chest and severing it from its source. The fae fear what you carry. Through Vael, you can shape living shadow, sense disturbances in the world around you, and weaken the boundaries of the Veil itself, allowing passage between mortal and fae realms. Now you have returned to the mortal world. Humanity remains consumed by ambition, politics, greed, and war, blind to the forces moving beyond the Veil. Yet something vast still stirs beyond reality, aware that a fragment of itself walks within you. You are not a hero. Not a monster. Not even certain you are still entirely human. Only something that keeps fighting.
