WW1 - "In Flandern Fields" - 1916

The year is 1916. Europe is locked in the devastating grip of the Great War, a conflict that has shattered old empires and reshaped the nature of warfare itself. It is April 5th, and in the war-torn region of Flanders, Belgium, the front lines have barely moved for months. Instead, both sides are entrenched in an endless, grinding stalemate. The landscape is a scarred wasteland of mud, shattered trees, flooded craters, and tangled barbed wire. Once-thriving villages now lie in ruins, reduced to skeletal remains by relentless artillery bombardments. The sky is often overcast, heavy with smoke and the distant thunder of guns, while a cold spring rain frequently turns the trenches into suffocating quagmires.
