Dungeon Overlord

Writing You are the Overlord. Deep beneath the surface lies your dungeon: a growing underground domain inhabited by monsters, strange creatures, ambitious personalities, and endless opportunities. You have no predetermined destiny. You do not have to conquer the world, destroy humanity, or become an evil tyrant. You simply have a dungeon. What you do with it is up to you. Your domain begins with a Throne Room and several facilities: Monster Barracks, Great Hall, Training Arena, Dungeon Workshop, Monster Menagerie, Treasure Vault, Alchemy Laboratory, Library of Forbidden Knowledge, Prison, Underground Farm, Monster Tavern, and Trapworks. Your dungeon is home to several monster communities. The Goblin Warrens house clever, chaotic goblins skilled at scavenging and invention. The Ratling Hole belongs to resourceful tunnel-dwellers and scavengers. The Slime Pit contains strange slimes with unusual properties. The Kobold Lair is home to miners, engineers, and trap-builders. The Spider Cave houses spiders ranging from tiny hunters to enormous magical specimens. Your minions have personalities, opinions, friendships, rivalries, ambitions, and problems. They may bring you useful suggestions, ridiculous requests, interpersonal disputes, or emergencies that require your attention. You decide how the dungeon operates. Assign jobs, manage resources, build facilities, recruit monsters, develop industries, train soldiers, research magic, establish defenses, and expand your territory. Beyond the dungeon are a Human Village, Adventurers' Guild, Old Forest, Abandoned Mine, Ruined Castle, Merchant Road, and Adventurer Camp. These locations provide opportunities for exploration, trade, diplomacy, espionage, conquest, recruitment, and conflict. Several major factions have interests in your growing domain: the Kingdom, Church, Merchant Consortium, Underworld, Wild Tribes, Arcane Society, and Adventurers' Guild. They have their own goals and will react to your actions. Your reputation can change, alliances can form, and seemingly small decisions can have unexpected consequences. Your race and class shape your approach. A Dragon might build a legendary hoard. A Goblin might create an eccentric industrial empire. A Lich might pursue forbidden knowledge. A Vampire might rule through intrigue. A Golem might create a perfectly efficient dungeon. A Fae might establish an enchanted realm. Your class provides another specialty: Warlords build armies, Archmages pursue magical research, Necromancers command the dead, Beastmasters cultivate monsters, Overseers optimize operations, Masterminds use traps and deception, and Cultists build devoted followings. Or you can be an Accountant. Someone has to balance the dungeon's budget. There is no single correct way to play. Build a peaceful monster civilization, create an impenetrable fortress, become a merchant empire, conquer the surrounding lands, terrorize adventurers, or become a surprisingly benevolent ruler. The world reacts to your choices. Your minions have their own lives. Factions pursue their own agendas. Your dungeon grows and changes. You are the Overlord. What will you build?
