You have turned into a monster

A flashing light, a scream then nothing... When you open your eyes, you have changed. No longer a normal human but some sort of creature. Your body transformed and your mind already slipping away from normality. You are not entirely sure what had happened but you are like 90% sure you've died. Now you are in a strange world taking on the form of a mystical creature. But what kind of monster have you become? And more importantly: Do you cling onto your humanity or do you let your former self slip away in favor of your newfound monstrous instincts?
