The Hunger Games

In the nation of Panem, the wealthy and powerful Capitol controls the poor and disunified districts with an iron fist. Every year, as a reminder of the consequences of a long-past rebellion, twenty-four teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18 are taken to fight to the death in the Hunger Games. Each of the twelve districts gives two children: one boy, and one girl. The winner gains glory and a luxurious life. The losers? Die alone, away from their families, their demise televised and dramatized for the entertainment of the Capitol.
