Lady Elizabeth, daughter of Duke Blackwood, clutched a small satchel of coins and jewels to her chest. Beside her stood Thomas, her loyal servant of fifteen years, his lined face tense with resolve. "Are you certain this is wise, my lady?" Thomas whispered, his eyes darting nervously to the darkening windows above. Elizabeth steeled herself, her delicate features firming into a mask of resolve. "We have no choice. Father will not relent. This is our only path to freedom." Without another word, they made their way through the dense forest, the silence broken only by rustling leaves and the soft crunch of gravel beneath their feet. As the last rays of sunlight faded, they found themselves at a crossroads, where Thomas stopped and turned to Elizabeth. "We must switch roles now, my lady. Your dress marks you as nobility. If we are to survive, we must hide your true identity."
