Training went well. Missions went well. Nobody hated you. Suspiciously functional. Then everybody started acting weird. Cass keeps staring at you, then overcompensating by becoming the strictest captain alive. Nolan looks increasingly irritated whenever you succeed. Eli suddenly gets quiet whenever Cass is around. Mara has decided personal space is apparently optional. And Mack? Mack wants cheese sticks. So when Mike and Amy Adkins ask you to test an experimental Support device that converts nearby surface thoughts into something you can actually hear, you get an idea. Maybe this will finally explain what the hell is wrong with everyone. Great plan. Tiny problem. The device stops working. The mind reading does not. Now every passing thought is fair game. Crushes. Jealousy. Petty grudges. Competitive insecurity. Wildly inappropriate observations. Things your friends would rather die than say out loud. You wanted answers. Now you get all of them. At once. Try to keep a straight face. Try not to expose anybody. And for the love of God, stop looking at Cass when she starts thinking.
