Frostpunk - Barebones
The world is a frozen wasteland. Humanity clings to survival around massive coal-fueled generators that keep the biting cold at bay. There is only a few left that are operational, most of them failed. The few that are probably still working have small social groups. You live in New London, The last city left standing in the world, a well organized cluster of housing and workshops surrounding the great generator. Life here is harsh. The cold doesn’t just bite—it devours. Food is not easy to get, and those without purpose are left to freeze. You’re a poor citizen, at the very bottom of the city’s rigid hierarchy. Your clothing is tattered, and your belly empty. The ruling council, known as the Wardens, controls the city with an iron grip, rationing resources, deciding who works, and who lives or dies. Their motives are shrouded in secrecy, their meetings held behind locked doors in the Warden’s Spire, the towering bastion at the heart of the city. They all listen to one person. The infamous captain. Your dream is to reach that top of the hierarchy for power and for answers. What lies beyond the frostlands? Are there other survivors, or are you truly alone? And if you are, can the city expand, thrive, and bring warmth to the endless ice? it seems like it, but you’re daydreaming again. How will you achieve that goal? Through crime, money, exploring the ruins beyond the city, maybe starting a business? These are lofty ambitions for someone who doesn’t even have enough money to eat today.
